General Skilled Migration

You may be eligible for a Skilled visa if you are a professional with skills needed in Australia.

At Hartman Immigration Lawyers we can assist skilled individuals to gain entry into Australia and benefit from the strong and diverse job market.

Skilled visas are for people who are not sponsored by an employer and have skills in particular occupations desirable in Australia. There are a variety of skilled migration options including:

  • Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa;
  • Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa; and
  • Skilled Regional (Provisional (subclass 189) ) visa.

You might be eligible for a Skilled visa if you possess an occupation that is on the relevant Skilled Occupation List, achieve a suitable skills assessment, are under 50 years of age, achieve an appropriate score in the points test, and meet the English language requirements.

If you are issued with a Skilled visa, you and your eligible family members will be allowed to live and work permanently in Australia.

Other entitlements for Skilled visa holders include being able to attend educational programs, access social security payments and Australia’s publicly funded universal health care scheme, sponsor eligible family members for permanent residency, travel to and from Australia and ultimately apply for Australian citizenship.
